Lying to auditors would be a crime

TSCPA and the Texas State Board of Accountancy are working closely with Rep. Warren Chisum (R-Pampa) to pass House Bill 2842, which makes it illegal for directors and executives of public interest entities to lie to their auditors: Download hb_2842.doc

Rep. Chisum is the House sponsor of HB 2842, leading the bill through the committee process and, hopefully, to the House floor for passage. The bill has been referred to the House State Affairs Committee, but has not yet been scheduled for a hearing.
