Head tax exemption voted out of committee

Under current law, state and federally employed CPAs do not have to pay the $200 head tax, but employees of counties and cities do. Sen. Gallegos’ SB 918 levels the playing field and extends the exemption to local government employees.

Noteworthy: the bill was voted out of the Senate Business and Commerce committee despite its $180,000 negative fiscal note.
