“Stealth Influence”

A while back we posted an item explaining some research done by Mark Jones, political science chair at Rice University, classifying state legislators as conservative or liberal based on voting records.

It was interesting because it showed that party labels aren’t necessarily definitive.  Today the Texas Tribune has another interesting slant on the Texas House of Representatives where he claims the “Dems have stealth influence in the House.”

Jones has some statistics and a theory he offers to substantiate his claim  that  “Contrary to common public perception, these data indicate that the Texas Democratic Party appears to have played an integral role in the legislative process during the 2009 House session…. “

It’s worth the read for you political junkies.
