Stimulus creates Texas jobs, but at what cost?

The federal stimulus has created 47,704 jobs in Texas, according to the Houston Chronicle.

How much stimulus does it take to create 47,704 jobs? $4.6 billion. That means each job cost taxpayers $96,727. Claims and counter-claims are being made about stimulus job creation, but despite the rhetoric, the cost per job is a sobering statistic.

If you want to see the details, claims and counter-claims check out the Chronicle’s analysis by Stewart Powel and Yang Wang.
