School districts are almost ready to sue the state – again – claiming that the school funding system is unconstitutional.
All the school funding reform in recent history enacted by the state legislature has been under threat of court action: actual courts telling the legislature they need to do something or else the judges would. School districts say the system is broken once again, but they are holding off on the lawsuit to give the 82nd Legislature a chance to fix it without judges looking over their shoulder.
It's just the school districts' threat looking over legislators' shoulders so far. If you want to know more check out "School finance suit on hold?" in the San Antonio Express-News.
