TSCPA Member to be appointed Texas State Board of Public Accountancy Presiding Officer

At the Texas State Board of Accountancy meeting today it was announced that TSCPA member Thomas G. Prothro, CPA from Tyler will be named the next presiding officer of the board. Prothro has been a member of the board since 2009 and his current term expires in 2015. He currently serves as the Rules Committee Chairman. Prothro is the Managing Partner of the firm of Prothro Wilhelmi & Co PLLC. Congratulations to Tom for this significant appointment.

Congratulations also to TSCPA member Carlos Barrera, CPA from Brownsville who is completing two years of service as Presiding Officer and six years of service on the board. Carlos is a partner with Long Chilton, LLP. Barrera has done an excellent job leading the board in fulfilling its responsibilities to the public and the profession. TSCPA applauds Carlos for a job well done!

Earlier Governor Perry announced four other board appointments, which included TSCPA members Steve Pena of Georgetown and Donna Hugly of Dallas.
