CPA and TSCPA member Rep. Angie Chen Button (Garland – House District 112) has a Republican Primary opponent. Early voting is already underway and while Button is favored to win the race it is not a certaintity according to the Texas Weekly. TW publishes "The Texas Weekly Hotlist" which purports to list the most competative races. The list is color coded to define the incumbent's risks. Red means "trouble coming through the door," orange means "trouble on the front porch," and yellow means "trouble on the sidewalk."
Button's race is colored orange. Button has been very supportive of CPAs while in the legislature and she is endorsed by the TSCPA CPA-PAC. As one of six CPAs in the legislature, She is a fiscal conservative and is in a position to have a positive influence for the profession. Whoever wins the primary election will be the state representative for the 2015 session as there is no Democratic opponent in the race.
