Conventional wisdom among Austin insiders is that Sen. Glenn Hegar will edge out Rep. Harvey Hilderbran for the Republican nomination for State Comptroller. Insiders may be surprised by the latest University of Texcas/Texas Tribune poll of 1200 registered voters. The poll says Debra Medina leads the pack with 39%, followed by Hilderbran at 26%, Hegar at 24% and CPA Raul Torres trailing at 11%. TT points out that Medina is the only candidate that has been on a statewide ballot before (she ran for the Republican nomination for governor in 2010).
The poll also reorts results for the other statewide races nad predicts run-offs for Lt. Gov. and Attorney Gineral as well as State Comptroller. The poll can be found here.
