We mentioned last week that Democratic State Comptroller candidate Mike Collier, CPA has gained a little press notice by claiming his Republican opponent, Sen. Glenn Hegar, was proposing a 25% sales tax. While that might be an overstatement, the press has continued to write about it. Hegar has expressed the idea of swapping property taxes for sales taxes, although his campaign is quick to point out that won't be happening any time soon. Collier must think it's still good campaign fodder because he uses the same line in his first campaign TV ad. Read about it and see the ad in the Dallas Morning News article Collier gigs Hegar on taxes.
