A CPA in the state senate?

State Senator Robert Duncan (R-Lubbock) has been announced as the sole finalists to become the new chancellor at Texas Tech.  News reports say he is expected to start his duties on July 1, 2014.  That means a special election will be held to fill Sen. Duncan's senate term which expires in 2017. Gov. Perry will decide when to hold the special election.

CPA and TSCPA member Rep. Charles Perry (R-Lubbock), who is currently on the November ballott for re-election, immediatly announced he would run for Duncan's senate seat in the special election.
