Since Sen. Robert Duncan has been named the new Texas Tech chancellor, CPA and TSCPA member Charles Perry (R-Lubbock) has announced plans to run for Duncan's expired term in the special election that will be set by the governor once Duncan officially resigns. Rep. John Frullo (R-Lubbock), who also has an inactive CPA license in another state, announced that he would not be a candidate for Duncan's senate seat. Frullo said he would continue his re-election efforts for HD 84 where he does have a Democratic opponent in November. The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal quotes Frullo as saying Perry "would make a fine senator."
